How to Care for Wrought Iron Outdoor Pieces

Wrought iron outdoor fixtures and furniture are vulnerable to rust. Many like the ‘patina’ look, but if you want to keep the original black finish, here are a few basic tips for unpainted wrought iron.
When new and black, coat your wrought iron pieces with a polyurethane protective varnish.
Then, at least once a year:
Wash your wrought iron with soapy water and a soft brush or sponge.
Rinse with warm water and let dry.
Coat with a polyurethane protective varnish.
